Ingredients

Refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
  • 2 can (17.5 oz) refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing Use both cans and reserve the icing packets for the drizzle.
Apple pie filling
  • 1 can (21 oz) apple pie filling Spread evenly to create the bubbling base.
Spices
  • 1 tsp cinnamon Sprinkled over the apple pie filling before baking.
  • 0.1 nutmeg Use a pinch; optional but recommended for warm aroma.

Equipment

  • 1 sheet pan

Method

Preheat and prepare the dish
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F, then grease a 9x13 baking dish so the bake releases cleanly.
Layer the apples and spices
  1. Spread the apple pie filling in an even layer across the bottom of the dish.
  2. Sprinkle the cinnamon and nutmeg over the apples in an even, light coating.
Add the cinnamon roll pieces
  1. Open the cinnamon roll cans and cut or pull apart each roll into quarters.
  2. Scatter the cinnamon roll pieces over the apple filling, covering the top as evenly as possible.
Bake and finish
  1. Bake for 25–30 minutes at 350°F until the rolls are golden and cooked through.
  2. Drizzle the reserved icing over the warm bake, then serve immediately for the best texture.

Notes

For the cleanest layers, spread the apple pie filling all the way to the edges before adding the cinnamon roll quarters so every bite has filling. Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator up to 3 days; rewarm in the oven at 325°F until just hot. Freezing is not recommended because the cinnamon roll texture can soften after thawing. For a lighter swap, use reduced-sugar apple pie filling and reduce the icing by half.
