Ingredients

Apples
  • 3 large apples peeled, cored, and sliced into wedges
Cinnamon sugar coating
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 0.25 tsp nutmeg
  • 0.25 tsp vanilla extract
Serving
  • 1 vanilla ice cream for serving
  • 1 caramel sauce for serving

Equipment

  • 1 air fryer

Method

Coat the apples
  1. Toss the apple wedges with melted butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla extract until every piece looks evenly coated.
Air-fry
  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375F.
  2. Arrange the coated apple slices in a single layer in the basket and air-fry for 10-12 minutes, shaking halfway, until caramelized and tender.
  3. If the apples don’t fit in a single layer, work in batches to keep the edges crisp and the slices evenly caramelized.
Serve
  1. Serve the apples warm over vanilla ice cream and drizzle with caramel sauce right before eating.

Notes

For the crispiest edges, keep apple slices in a single layer and shake halfway through cooking. Store leftovers in the refrigerator up to 3 days; reheat in the air fryer at 325F for 3-4 minutes. Freezing is not recommended because the apples soften when thawed. For a lighter option, use reduced-fat vanilla ice cream or omit the ice cream and serve with Greek yogurt.
