Ingredients

Cherry or strawberry Jell-O
  • 1 box (3 oz) cherry or strawberry Jell-O
Berry blue Jell-O
  • 1 box (3 oz) berry blue Jell-O
Unflavored gelatin (white layer)
  • 1 box (3 oz) unflavored gelatin
Sweetened condensed milk (white layer)
  • 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
Boiling water (divided)
  • 3 cups boiling water
Cold vodka (divided)
  • 1.5 cups cold vodka
Cold water (white layer)
  • 0.5 cup cold water

Equipment

  • 1 sheet pan

Method

Make the red layer
  1. Dissolve the cherry or strawberry Jell-O in 1 cup boiling water, stirring for 2 minutes until fully dissolved, with the mixture looking smooth and uniformly colored.
  2. Mix in 1/2 cup cold vodka, then immediately pour into shot cups filling about one-third of the way; stop once the surface looks even.
  3. Refrigerate for 45 minutes until the red layer is fully set and holds its jiggle when the cups are gently nudged.
Make and add the white layer
  1. Combine sweetened condensed milk, 1 cup boiling water, and unflavored gelatin, stirring until dissolved so no granules remain.
  2. Cool slightly, then stir in 1/2 cup cold water and let the mixture thicken just a bit before layering.
  3. Spoon gently over the set red layer so it stays mostly translucent and doesn’t disturb the red beneath.
  4. Refrigerate for another 45 minutes until the white layer is set and looks firm with a glossy top.
Make and pour the blue layer
  1. Dissolve the berry blue Jell-O in 1 cup boiling water, stirring for 2 minutes until smooth.
  2. Mix in 1/2 cup cold vodka and cool to room temperature so the color looks clear and glossy rather than cloudy.
  3. Gently pour over the white layer, using a slow stream to preserve the clean layer line.
  4. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until fully set, then serve cold while the layers jiggle as you lift a cup.

Notes

For clean, distinct layers, cool the gelatin mixes before pouring—especially the white and blue—so they don’t melt into the previous layer. Store in the refrigerator up to 3 days in the cups (covered). Freeze: no, because the layers can separate and the texture can get grainy after thawing. Dietary swap: use a no-sugar-added gelatin/Jell-O option if you want a lower-sugar version (condensed milk still adds sweetness, so consider a lower-sugar condensed milk if available).
